ecomaru – Case Study: Improvements in Black Dot Defects

■ Automotive Parts Molding
◇ Company A
Resin Used: HIPS
Molding Machine Capacity: 650 tons
Temperature: 230°C
Challenge:
When the black‑dot defect rate exceeded 10%, the machine had to be stopped for disassembly cleaning. This required substantial manual labor and cleaning time, so reducing these burdens was essential.
Verification Scope:
・Performed ecomaru purge once a day for approximately two weeks.
・Checked screw contamination before and after use and tracked the trend in defect rates.
Before Using ecomaru

After Approximately Two Weeks of Using ecomaru

⇒Carbonized deposits on the screw were significantly reduced.
Trend of Black‑Dot Defects While Using ecomaru

⇒The defect rate gradually decreased, stabilizing at around 2%. This behavior was similar to the typical pattern observed immediately after restarting the molding machine following disassembly cleaning.
Result:
A decrease in defect rate similar to that observed during disassembly cleaning confirmed that ecomaru’s purging performance can serve as an alternative to disassembly cleaning.
